Product Review
Product Description
is is a very high quality microphone - designed for the professional - and with a number of unique features making it highly convenient and accurate with speech recognition software and particularly well suited for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The PowerMic II microphone offers simplified single-handed, thumb-control operation for dictating, navigating, reviewing, and editing speech recognition generated documentation.
This microphone integrates partially with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical 9.5 and beyond and, in fact, if Dragon is set-up with this as the planned microphone the program provides a separate menu of "hot keys" specifically related to this microphone (see below). Integration with NaturallySpeaking 10 Medical is particularly rich and allows use of microphone button to accomplish a series of functions listed in detail below.
Features:
* Hand-held
* High accuracy
* Reasonably good noise cancellation
* Programmable buttons
* Excellent ergonomics
* Designed for integrated use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking
* USB interface with PC

Used this with Dragon Medical 10.1 and it works with much higher precision that I expected. With Dragon installed, there are no extra drivers needed when installing this, just plug and go. Having navigation buttons make moving around the EMR smoother, and the dedicated record button prevents users from needing to speak to wake up the mic.
Very expensive device and the cord is very long. Good when the computer in on the floor and the physician is standing at a counter, but can become unmanageable when using a laptop on the same counter with 8 ft of spare cord laying around.

Fortunately, I didn't have to pay for my Dictaphone PowerMic. If I had, I probably wouldn't have one, because the price seems astronomical. That said, I find that it works well -- much better than headset mics. What makes it nearly worth the price, though, are the navigation buttons that make it effortless to jump from one section of my medical-note templates to the next. THAT's the big time saver with this microphone, but the dedicated on-off button is also very nice.

there is no support team for installation...It is not worth it for this much money and is not really what they advertise, Buttons ( functional keys) does not really work, you can get cheaper microphone for 30 or 40 and they do the samethings< it is not elegent and comfortable for office use like Phillips and european brands, with this much money you should get better dictaphone
