Recording speeds can be set for normal or half-speed, depending on your needs. In addition, you can set the recording levels to adjust to your environment. For example, a faded conference call requires the microphone sensitivity of the high setting. A low setting is more appropriate for clear voices, such as direct dictation. The GEE 35381 also contains a rewind and fast-forward cue, which can be used to quickly bypass slow or unnecessary recorded segments.
The unit operates on two AA batteries, held snugly in place with a hinged-panel door--it's a minor detail, but if you've ever lost the small plastic door on any of your electronics devices, you'll appreciate it. We found the cassette door to be difficult to open, however, the tight fit did succeed in holding the microcassette firmly in place.

It's small, very portable, and sturdy. It is easy to load with batteries and tape and the adjustable mike sensitivity setting is really good. This machine is excellent for my formal and informal use and of course, excellent at the price. 18 of 19 people found the following review helpful: By WayneM (NY, NY) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: GE 35381 Voice-Activated Microcassette Recorder (Office Product) I received this product last week and used it without the external microphone. I heard more of the "machine noise" than the conversation (during playback). I had the settings set specifically for my use, and the noise it made on playback was annoying. |
