The lightweight device was designed for single-handed or even hands-free operation, fitting easily in the palm of your hand. Record, play, search, and mode buttons are located on the face of the unit, and the MB0035 can record automatically by voice activation (VOX). Alternatively, you can record a message manually by pressing the record button, pressing it once more to stop. Press the play button to listen to your messages. To play back only the first 5 seconds of each message, use the Intro function for quick scanning.
The MB0035 has two folders, each of which holds up to 30 minutes of audio. The recorder also includes volume adjustment and an input for an optional external microphone, to improve the quality of your recordings or minimize the presence of your recorder (stashing the recorder itself in your backpack and positioning only your microphone on your desk, for instance).
The recorder runs on two AAA batteries (not included) and also features a clock display and selective message erase.

The memorex is fairly slim and light, which is a good thing, so it can easily fit into pockets. The controls are a little unwieldy, as changing features and modes involve frantic pressing of a couple of rather unyielding buttons. As has been mentioned, the display is rather hard to see as well. The recording quality is good if you hold it right in front of the person speaking, but if you are going to put it on the desk while you sit there and chat with someone, you'd have to strain to hear the words upon playback. The inbuilt speakers are pretty crap, and I have to plug in a pair of headphones in order to hear the playback properly. However, by far my biggest gripe is this: there is no way to fast-forward or rewind througth a message. Imagine having recorded 20 minutes of a conversation, and then...Read more |
