Works great as a recorder.

Unexpected benefit: I use this as an Audible.com audio book player and love it.

For audio books, it works far better than the Ipod because you can listen to multiple books at one time, with a bookmark in each.

This model is very easy to use and operates nearly identically to the DS-50, which keeps the learning curve low for those who are upgrading.
