This is a GREAT little recorder. I use it to record lectures (with permission from my professors, of course) in medical school. I can let it sit there on the podium for hours of lecture, and then use it for hours of playback, without any change in the battery life. I love the ample volume controls during playback and the ability to adjust the recording sensitivity (hi/lo, for differing distances from the sound source). I also LOVE being able to playback faster or slower, depending on my taste. Getting through an hour's worth of lecture in less time is WONDERFUL. So is slowing down the playback of a lecture that seemed to go just a little too quickly. Plus, the recorder is lightweight, durable, and I can lock it so that it's not always turning on/off when I throw it in my backpack. No problems with capacity or file storage on-board. Great little unit, and I honestly have no complaints yet. I feel like anyone who needs a recorder would love this. Don't hesitate to buy!

There may be better products out there but you'd really have to know what you wanted (be a professional) to get better than this.
My wife recorded a solid 8 hours of audio with this thing under a pile of papers and it was able to pick up me making a fire 35 feet away. When the generator came on at 5:30am it recorded that exactly as it sounds, from the other side of the house, and not just from vibrations. Highly sensitive mic, easy to interface with PC.
8 hours was a lot of audio so I called Olympus. They answered quickly and easily with a real person who spoke proper English. They told me of a couple of programs I could use to analyze the audio track. They didn't make me spend 5 minutes telling them my freakin' name and address and email address and all that.
All in all, I highly recommend this product. I left it dormant for 6 months and lost no data. I put it on voice activated recording all day long one day and it made a new track when I would just...Read more

this is great voice recorder. also size is small and easy to carry.
recording sound is very clear.
but, when I recorded at a lecture in a large room about 26feet away from the lecturer,
the lecturer spoke without his own mike, it recorded with small voice.
even I put additional noise-cancelling microphone MODEL:ME52W from olympus,
so, if you record more than about 20feet away, someone who doesn't speak with their mike, you will be recorded with small voice.
but, when lecturer speaks with their mike, it recorded very clear with/without put additional noise cancelling microphone.
so, I recommend to record as near as possible at a large room lectures or conferences
otherwise, good recording with olympus TP7 telephone pickup
and also, any other recording at near distance.
and make sure what accessories include in the box when you buy this recorder.
because I bought this recorder with cheap price at a costco, but it...Read more
