This review is from: Philips LFH0602/00 Digital Voice Tracer 0602 (Office Product) I ordered the Philips because of the design of the buttons. It looked easy to use and mostly is. One fault, though, is if you change your mind about deleting an item, it's hard to back out of the menu. I think I had to turn it off. Another disappointment is that I cannot delete just a part of a recording, to edit it down. Lastly, was excited to know that I could add mp3 files to the recorder. I am disappointed it doesn't play them as well. I later realized a more expensive model would offer that option.
I had bought this recorder so that I could learn fiddle music. It's okay for that- perhaps more so with an accessory mic. We also record our children, for fun, and it's fine for that as well. Mostly I'm just disappointed I cannot download other fiddle tunes and play them back on one machine- I have to get a separate MP3 player. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Philips LFH0602/00 Digital Voice Tracer 0602 (Office Product) I purchased this unit for my wife, who is currently in Pharmacy School. She absolutely LOVES it! It's tiny enough to fit in her pocket and unobtrusive enough to sit on her desk during class.
The only drawback is that there is no removable memory card and there isn't a built-in USB plug (you have to carry the cord around with you). Although with 192 hours of recording time--it's doubtful that you're going to need the cord very often. Unfortunately, the batteries are not rechargeable (just regular AAAs), but it hasn't been a problem yet, since she's been using it for about a month now to record all of her lectures. Time will tell. It's great that the file can be dumped right into iTunes on her Mac (it records in a compatible format), unlike the other voice recorders that I've seen on Amazon, which can only record in WMA format (incompatible with iTunes). The voice comes out somewhat tinny on the internal speaker, but once it's imported into...Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Philips LFH0602/00 Digital Voice Tracer 0602 (Office Product) I bought this because I am a writer, and sometimes I want to capture a thought in a hurry. There are times when I get an idea just as I'm going to sleep or as a dream that I wake up with. I wanted this to be ready on my nightstand.
It has an excellent feature for this: one-touch record. You just hold the REC button down for a second, and it comes on live without having to turn the power on first. I had occasion to use it a few nights ago like this, and I was able to operate it in the dark. VERY useful feature. I was a little worried that it would have a steep learning curve, but it doesn't; just read the instructions carefully and follow along and practice the various operations once or twice. I gave it a five-star battery rating, but I really have no idea how long the battery will last; it's rated for 35 hours record time, but playback will shorten that. It's also solidly built; I've had it fall out of my shirt pocket onto the hard...Read more |
