In SHQ recording mode the sound without the external mic is perfect (crisp and no background noise). With the external microphone however, the sound is dimmed and full of noise. Also it is very sensitive(as stated in specs)and has good frequency response. Now if you are looking for a noise cancelling mike this one isn't it.
